The homeland of corn which is known to have a history of 8,000 to 10,000 years is the American continent and it has spread all over the world from here.

The production of maize which has a history of 8,000 to 10,000 years BC that was in the Americas and was carried to European lands by Spanish and English explorers where the red-skinned indigenous people taught how to plant and harvest it. A few years after its entry into Spain which found itself in large areas of Southeastern Europe and North Africa, especially in Portugal, France and Italy when brought to Turkish lands in the early 17th century through North Africa and Syria from Egypt to Istanbul. It came with the name  "Corn Wheat" or "Corn Millet" and in time it was shortened to corn.
